Title: Voice talent needed
Post by: Kayin on May 30, 2008, 02:40:35 am
I'm looking for some voice talent for my next non-IWBTG related game. The game will be of a serious tone in a semi-fantasy setting. I am looking for samples of as many voices an applicate can muster (even more comical ones, but the serious ones are more important). Heroes, villians, store clerics, whatever. The more the better.

Then feel free to email me the results for my review. I won't need or approve anyone for awhile (though I will tell you if you're in the serious running to get a voice roll), but be ready to do a good bit of voice work when you do.

Granted you're all 14 so I probably won't find a single good voice here, but who knows. Good luck!

Edit: Don't Email me with questions unless their good questions or you REAAAALLY need to know something. Example lines are in the thread somewhere, but like I've said a million times THIS IS NOT CASTING. I AM FINDING VOICE TALENT AND WORKING ACCORDING TO WHAT I HEAR. I am going to add more voice roles due to the amount of people that are around, for example.

YES you can still submit. You will be able to submit until something says otherwise.

Final note, I'm only accepting email submissions now.

edit: I NEED BITCHES. Ladies, if you can, please send me some samples. Thanks.

Hehehe. When some people on another of my forums were talking about making a flash version of the comic that forum is for I got the role of one of the main characters.

Nevertheless voice samples will take some time due to me still hating my own voice :<

h\Nope, that's what you sound like. When you speak, the sounds waves are warped as they pass through the bones of your head to your ears. You hear your voice differently from everyone else. That is what you really sound like to others.

Hello Kayin, I overlooked your request for voice talent. Well I don't have a high tech recording studio, but I have done some voices here and there for machinimas and so forth. Here is a link to an old sample of voice ranges I played with: http://media.putfile.com/Voice-Audition---Liafail (http://media.putfile.com/Voice-Audition---Liafail)

If it interests you in anyway, email me at: Christopherpitcher@Hotmail.com

I've got tons at my disposal, and I can even send you a link to my demo reel, unless you want me to come up with some specific samples that you want to here. What do you think?  ;D

I would be willing to put my voice to good use, and I wouldn't mind trying out to see if my voice would fit for the new game. I'll record my voice clip and post is here when I get a chance to, kinda going with no sleep so I doubt it will be any good, as for the whole being 14yrs old, I'm 20 so I'm pretty much over squeaky little girl voice phase. just thought I would post so my name would be up on here and once I record I'll get it up on here. Sorry if I'm repeating myself or I sound off, as I said, No sleep today and coherent typing without sleep doesn't really mix, ^^;;

Hi Kayin, my name's Mike. And I do a variety of voices actually ranging from my normal voice, to a Muslim, to The Macho Man Randy Savage. I'd love to fill in for any voice parts you need with store clerks or anything like that. Just email me at: Metalbum9@aol.com with any kind of practice lines, or just if you are interested. I'd be more than happy to help out  :D

You might be better off just creating some different voice samples using various home-brewed lines, and sending them to Kayin.

Just saying. :P

Hi. My name's also Mike (coincidently). The other member "Red" told me about the opportunity. I have a microphone at my house, and access to professional equipment at my school (we have a vocational broadcasting class). I'll be able to record many different voices for you to look over to see if you like them. I'll send them in as soon as I can.

This is my tryout, with multiple voices that i can pull off consistently.
Dont blame me for the sucky... Lyrics? lines? whatever. I ad-libbed it.
Had to cut it off short because of size restraints, but it should still be long enough.

Something (as an aspiring actor) I should point out, is that it'll make it WAY easier on your potential voice actors, myself included, and on you for picking voice actors if you write up a few sample lines for people to read.

Give an example of who is speaking each line, with the intent of looking for something specific for the voice. A short description of a character makes it much easier for someone to read lines as them.

But even if you don't, potential voice tryer-outers could consider reading a short monologue. :O

WHOO CONSTRUCTIVE CRITICISM. This is all just based off of what I see directors doing to help themselves cast people for plays.

Post by: Kayin on June 14, 2008, 02:54:59 pm
Heres some copypasta for some stuff I put in another forum.

-------------------------

Father Vincent: A traveling priest(well, more of a druid in DnD terms) in his early 30s. Rugged and good natured. Should sound friendly, confident and relaxed.

Lord Heidrarian Von Strumm: ( http://kayin.pyoko.org/albums/userpics/strumm.jpg ) The mercenery king. Old, huge and menacing. Older, gravely sounding voice, Patience and restrained, occasionally hinting at sadistic. The sound of an experienced veteran who enjoys his work.

Strumm (While stalking/lumbering after someone. Bored, growing impatient, belittling)
"I'm getting tired of these encounters, child... Teh -- you enjoy running too much... This is really beginning to bore me. I had hoped you'd have some fight in you.."

Trevor Vos Cruiz: Older brother to the lead character. A young knight(Techincally a paladan, but don't go for 'paladin' in the voice) in his mid 20s. Of noble birth, he should speak in a refined manner, though somewhat cocky and condescending. Somewhat Ambitious.

Trevor (Grave situation, composed but very firm.)
"... The situation is growing worse. If the infection continues to grow, we'll soon be out of options. Naomi, we -do not- have time to fool around here. We're heading back immediately."

Naomi Vos Cruiz
http://kayin.pyoko.org/naomi.jpg  /   http://kayin.pyoko.org/naomiidlebig.gif

Trevor's younger sister and the main playable character. Young, idealistic and polite, though with a temper when pressed. Just say anything in a a polite nobleish voice -- and then say something in that same voice, only angry! :D

Cassara
http://kayin.pyoko.org/albums/userpics/pCassColor.jpg (not my art~)  /  http://kayin.pyoko.org/cassidlebig.gif

A mysterious(lawl) female who will make several appearances in the game. Condesending and with a violent temper. Confidence and prone to boredom and impatience.

Also I could use various voices for like a narrator or various nobles, so just feel free to mess around girls. Narrator could also work for a guy, so just throwing that out there.

Alright, so you just want some voice samples of saying pretty much anything? Consider it done. I've always wanted to do some voice acting. I have to go buy a quality microphone, but I am DEFINITELY up for this.

Also, I am a seasoned actor. Not, like, super-professionally, but I do a lot of theater, so I'm not going to be just READING lines like I've seen some people do, haha.

I'll have to get one of my voiceactor friends with a recorder to get some samples, but once that's done, I'll send them to you. I suit deeper-voiced characters better, but I'll try my hand at any given good lines. For my sampling, along with the lines you've provided, I'll probably just toss out Dracula's entire side of the epic dialogue with The Kid, as well as a slew of lines from Dr. McNinja comics. If you don't know the series, look it up. Way epic.

Oh, and I'll steal a few wisecracks from Deadpool's reportiore to round it all off, just because Deadpool is awesome. Anyhow, I'll have something emailed as soon as I can.

Okay, if the post made two days ago said that the last post was over a year ago, what do you think that means?

And on that note, can someone lock this thread?

This is the reason why threads should auto-lock after a certain period of time (unless they're sticky'd), to stop people from either spamming the older boards or genuinely posting on a topic which has no more interest that may or may not have another board that has had updates about this topic on a more recent date.

People can't read or simply don't care.

If you do that, the creator of the thread should still be able to post in it after it is locked.

For example, what if someone is making a fangame and has a thread for it. They go on vacation, forget to bump the thread, and it autolocks.

OP can unlock their own threads...

Not if they didn't lock it. And autolock would stop us from reviving some of the great Crap! classics.

Actually, if I remember correctly, OPs can unlock topics even if a mod locked them. I believe Ybbald had a contest with the mods to see if he could keep a thread he made unlocked a while ago.

If that is the case, I wonder why on earth would someone leave an option like that on a public forum.
