Game Design! / Re: Variable Jumping (MMF2)
« on: December 08, 2009, 10:12:16 pm »
How about you start the jump when the button is pressed, and end it when it is released (or been in the air for too long).
Then, for the variable jumping, you have two timers (The first must end before the second timer):
One is the minimum amount of time to continue jumping for, during which if the jump button is released, it ignores it and the character continues to gain height, so it is effectively a minimum cap.
The second is the time at which you stop gaining height regardless of whether the button was released or not, effectively a maximum cap.
When the first timer ends, you just keep checking for when the jumping button has been released (or if it has been released already), and if it has, just end the jump.
If the second timer ends, you would have reached the maximum jump height (because the jump key was not released), so the jump also ends.

I have made this. This works and have it working in my engine. I will post the engine sooner or later as we already have:
(made in MMF2)
movement identical to game
horizontal/vertical platforms
death
saving
scrolling
Vines(50% done)

So after these, we might post it on the forums
my friend pete is looking at vines, and i'm looking at diagonal platforms.

General Discussion! / Re: A forum suggestion
« on: November 30, 2009, 10:49:47 pm »
I've been on a quite a few boards, and ALL of the mods could ban. That is the power they have, and the power to lock and delete.
The admins appointed mods, because they couldn't be assed to do it themselves as they aren't always online.

The whole "new forum" wouldn't be the greatest ideal. To have a minimum post count, would just promote spamming to gain the post count. Even this is a smaller community, doesn't mean there aren't hackers/spammers to screw with people.
On other forums, there isn't even a crap board, as if it is crap, it shouldn't be posted. Under general, it even says "for serious discussion" So what is the point of another "serious discussion" board when you have general?

Ive been banned on Newgrounds before. Cant remember why.

I got banned once or twice, over the time I have collected being on NG, which has been like 4 years?
Now some people are banned for stupid things, and like the only gay mods were Jerupac and Jamoke. Now that Jerupac has been demodded...

Strange thing is, poozy isn't even online anymore.

Game Design! / Variable Jumping (MMF2)
« on: November 20, 2009, 07:54:18 pm »
I am trying to do variable jumping like in IWBTG, right now, if you press fire 2(Jump) you will jump just as high as you would with the highest first jump in iwbtg(holding down the shift key)

Same with the secondary jump.

My jumping is "Alterable Value A" which is set in a line of code, the player Y is greater than zero.

So jump one's code is "Alterable value A =-9.5"
Jump 2 is "Alterable value A =-8.5

How can I create a variable jump? (if I hold down the fire 2 key longer, the higher the jump)

In Very Hard, in the graveyard's save, if you beat birdo, and die in the next room and spawn back to the save point, the spikes that fly up under the thriller zombies immediately shoot. Then it is very easy to go across. Everytime you die after that they will still shoot before you go, making that spot a breeze.

No, not the actual file, but when you test it with the in-fusion exe. It won't even start up and it'll say the generic error. How can you get huge continous stages like the mine-ride without out fusion crashing at startup?

When you actually have proof of something done, don't make a topic.
I could say my game is almost completely finished, but it wouldn't matter without proof.

When I tried to make 3 screens in 1 frame, and fusion died on me, and quit. How did kayin make huge screens in 1 frame without errors, or the mine-level so big?
