Help! / after clown copter...WTF

ok so to start off i've been playing for a while and I finally got to beating dr.wilely, BUT I didnt take the upper path to where mike tysone was. Anyways I finally beat him and ofcourse I saved before fighting bowser, so after i defeated him the red orb looking thing appeard and I touched it, after that I went to the next room...only finding a feaking random black wall sorta thing with random letters all over it. 
So I tried finding a way to get past this and so far...zip. 
I dunno if anyone has come across this but Im hoping someone could help me cause Im really screwed here
