Game Design! / wich one is more recommended? C# or C++

im trying to learn a new lenguaje, and i can't decide between C# or C++...are they the same? are they similar? are they completly diffrent? has anyone of you used any of these?

General Discussion! / So i started playing final fantasy VI

And i didn't remember it being so awesome, right now im at narche as Locke, trying to sneak up, right now im stuck though, and i promised myself not to watch any walktroughs or anything.

I have to say that from what i've played so far, this might be one of my favourite final fantasy games, and im really not that advances in the game just yet.

Hey there...well, i have a small problem going on with the draw event on my game. You'll see, im trying to code a menu, and there's a problem...it draws whenever the f**k it wants, raelly, it justs, sometimes appears, and sometimes it doesn't.

But i noticed, the object doesnt get destroyed...it just gets invisible...

well, this is the whole code for the menu...its pretty basic actually and there's a lot of things that i could have done better.

The press enter, up and down and everything are under contructin..but they have nothing to do with the drawing.

well, today i tried to play TF2 and i've been running into a problem that is driving me insane, when i try to play, this message about the "cache" files pops up


the problem is that when i reach 100% on the checking...it stops...forever, and because of this i haven't been able to play TF2

well, im taking psycology classes at school, and i have this homework to do (keep in mind this thread is not to ask people to help me)  i just want to share what it is and i want you guys to give it a try so we can get diffrent results on the forums. I'ts also to see how people think a perfect society should be and how humans see themselves, it can be very interesting

well, it goes like this:

you need to create a society that contains the following :

*Name of your society
*Flag (not entirely necesary actually)
*Educational system
*Health system
*Housing system
*Transportation system
*Security system
*Basic services (water ,electricity ,etc)
*Time (this meaning if your society is from the future, from the past, etc)
*Natural resources (natural gas, petroleum, etc)
*10 Big laws (you need to have 10 important laws, keep in mind is 10 as a minimun and as a maximum)
*Geographic ubication (is it in an island?, on a mountain?,etc)
*Type of government (empire, democracy, etc)

Let's see what you can come up with and let's discuss it

well, im making this thread because right now in "im bored 2" im  working on a new boss, and ... i dont know where to even start, not because i dont have any ideas for atacks or anything, the thing is...what do you people consider as a GOOD boss?, and how do you think a boss should be made?, because right now im looking for  change on style when it comes to boss making.
   So, what do you recomend for a GOOD boss fight?, making his atacks just random? the atacks changes depending on what the player is doing? doing a certain amount of atacks and then repeat?

ill apreciate if you can help me with this.

well, yesterday, for some reason youtube videos just dont work at all on google chrome. I try to watch something and all i can see is a balck screen and  no signals of the vido showing up.


ther's not even like an error scren or something, just a black thing. Anyone else has had this error before? any clues on how to fix it?

hey there, im making this thread to post some really usefull codes i use. This codes are for Game maker 8 (im not sure if you need pro for some of them)

for all of this codes, create and object (or more if i especify it) and then put the codes i give you in the correct event.

1.- Screen flash!

Sprite--- You need a white sprite (its better if is just a plain white square) , the size doesnt matter, but its better if its small (16x16 maybe)

Use: just in any time you want (in a boss or a cutscene maybe) just use.... instance_creat(x,y,ScreenFlash)--(or whatever name you used)

2.- Make an object disappear slowly

you need to add the next codes in the object you want to make disappear.

just use alarms inside of the object OR another object to activate disa (set disa to 1)

3.- Automatic save of secret items or power ups! (no need to shoot a save or touch any checkpoint after getting the item)

This one is kind of more complex, but you just have to follow this steps

STEP  1 --- Create a scrypt called "saveGlobal" (without the "")

- in that scrypt put this code

STEP  2 --- Create a scrypt called "loadGlobal" (without the "")
