If I could make one more suggestion: maybe make it so on Iron Maiden mode, when you have the maximum of an item, you can't pick up any new ones, instead of picking them up and having them automatically taken away?

OOO I've been waiting for an update.

I have two suggestions as of right now. It's your game so it's up to you in the end, but here goes:

1) Make it so that full screen is unselected to start. I don't know about anybody else, but I use a dual monitor setup, and when it opens in full screen, A) the music is generally blasting and I can't reach the volume and B) all the windows I had opened previously are horribly displaced.

2) Completely eliminate darkness from this game. I understand you are going for difficulty, but imo this is just WAAAY too annoying when you combine it with the enemies firing through walls and all that. You could also leave the darkness in, but make it so that you can at least kind of make out the enemies outside of the circle. Or maybe even a flashlight item that completely eliminates darkness in a straight line whichever direction you are facing? Because I really can't tell you how many times I've had phantom axes/bullets come flying at me, or walked right into one of those chainsaw maniacs who just dashes at me from across the screen because I had no chance to see him coming. I have full confidence that you can make this game just as difficult without the need for obscuring over 50% of the screen.

EDIT: Also, I play the regular size screen mode, which makes things MUCH more of a pain to see than normal. Large screen it fares a little better, but still pretty frustrating to make a jump in darkness just to see a hole appear underneath you while you're running from
an eyeball-demon (don't know what they're called) larger than your entire view.

I killed you, Mr. Anderson. I watched you die.....with a certain satisfaction, I might add.

But then something happened. Something I knew was impossible but it happened anyway.

You destroyed me, Mr. Anderson.

That's pretty much how it happened. I killed him, threw my hands up high in jubilation, then *SQUISH* PRESS 'R' TO TRY AGAIN. It just so happened that just before he died he spawned some spikes from his mouth that I happened to miss. Go figure -- technically I didn't miss them, I just had my hands off the keyboard when I finally noticed them, which made me that much more angry to know that I could've dodged it and ended the debate right there.

Thankfully, I've since gotten good enough to beat him -- truly -- legitimately. ;D

I'm pretty positive that the max bullet glitch is fixed in newer builds.

Ah you are right. Apparently the reason I can't always get it to work is because I didn't know I had two different versions downloaded!  :o

I have this weird strategy of shooting to the left repeatedly in an attempt to glitch the game. Apparently, if you time it just right, when you turn to start shooting to the right, there will be pretty much no limit to the amount of bullets you can pour onto the screen, as long as you don't ever stop shooting (this will hurt your hand). You just flood the screen nonstop and avoid his fire, and when he drops the marble or whatever it is, you can usually get about 10-12 shots off (just make sure you're close enough because the bullets are still subject to range restrictions). If you're good you can wait for him to hover over the ball again and give him the last couple, but preferably you just stop and give your hand a rest, then give him the last bit on the next go using the normal 4 max.

I'm not sure how I get this to work, and it's definitely sporadic (I just use the idle time during the 2nd form to try to get it started). Maybe someone more intimate with the way the game is programmed might be able to explain it better than I can.

Oof. I'm on the water-level now, and the water just obscures everything. If it weren't for the darkness, this would be workable, as your eyes would have enough time to adjust to the blending of impending threats, but combining that with the darkness is terribly frustrating. If it's designed to be frustrating, fair enough, but I definitely don't like it since it's giving me a massive headache.

that's still impressive..
beat my run.

Isn't there some sort of glitch where you can turn into a ball but still be going at full run speed?

I never could figure out how to do that.

Considering it's still in development, the only real complaints I have are that you can't leave Full Screen mode and you can't adjust the controls (I'm right-handed so shooting and jumping with the left is a real bitch).

It's a lot of fun to play, though.

he does that on purpose lulz

Nobody can be sure whether James Rolfe, owner of cinemassacre and indie movie buff is any good at video games. One thing, however, is clear: The Angry Video Game Nerd DOES suck at video games.

It's part of the character. He sucks, he gets his ass kicked, therefore he gripes and drinks booze.

Also, I think the rest of his quote in the FAQ is more explaining his derogatory remarks towards games and how people shouldn't take it seriously as opposed to defending his incredible gaming skills. Quite honestly, the guy sounds like he's got so much on his plate I can't imagine him having time to do any recreational gaming outside of his filming.

Might be a good idea to take your email out of that post or at least make it something like matt 'at' wasuonline   dot   com. Just a polite suggestion.  :)

the angry video game nerd sucks at games though.

Yes, but if his Silver Surfer rant is any indication, it's when he's getting his ass kicked that he is the funniest.
