Game Design! / Re: Story's Save System - Now with encryption!

New version is out. I have added an encryption option. Also, I added a function to get the current difficulty, which I somehow forgot to put in the first version.

I've decided to login after not being here for about two years to ask what type of encryption did you apply to the saves? If you are even still around.

So I finally got help and we have assembled the PC. Only concern I have is that we're having trouble getting the case fans to run.

Any suggestions?

If you are having a problem you can try contacting me on Skype and I can try to help to best of ability, troubleshooting PC problems CAN be a difficult job.

I asked NANG's being interpreted to other language. Because I want to interpret NANG to Korean. But I can't do that because of the Copyright. So, I want to ask this of Thenewgeezer; however through e-mail or Twitch TV Message Box, I can't get in touch with him...

It's fine to translate the game into another language, Thenewgeezer does not mind. Although, GameMaker8.1 does not have support for asian languages such as korean, you will have to port the game to GameMaker: Studio to be able to properly translate the game.
I'm almost 100% sure that due to the way GM:Studio handles sandboxing, NANG would not compile propoerly if you tried to port it over without significant reworking of the saving & music systems. You'd be better off using sprite to font and entering them in manually, which will take a lot of time but I imagine it might be less taxing than changing the core mechanics of the game.

Not true. You can use an extension to get around this sandboxing limitation, and porting over the Sound Engine would be doing pretty much the same thing.

Brisulph is better played when you forget that it is supposed to be a fangame of the original IWBTG. As it stands, it is way better than Zoop (which I enjoyed, not so much now.) his previous game. Brisulph brings in alot of elements that aren't really found in most fangames which makes it a unique and fresh experience. Hell the game even includes an Extra Stage for those who are dedicated. The gameplay of Brisulph may not be for everyone, but it sure as hell is more interesting than an normal experience. I won't really review the game more in-depth than that (because I do have some gripes with the game), respect the fact that this thread is not a review thread, trash someone elses opinion thread, or anything else, it is simply a user-voted list of fangames worth giving a go. If you want to voice your opinion, please just use Delicious Fruit and not this fucking thread. Thanks.

Doesn't the bible only say gay sex between two men is bad? Like I don't recall anything about marriage or lesbians.

This is pretty huge, as I've never seen that either. Then again we may be talking loopholes in a universe where a omnipresent being overseas everything...

If you just want obfuscated savefiles, you could give my save system dll a try.

That link doesn't lead to the thread, you accidentally borked it.

Yeah, I think the rules you are imposing are a bit too restrictive and don't really allow people to express their true opinions. And how exactly would you enforce the whole "I didn't play it but I watched it" rule? Unless the person explicitly says so, you're not going to have a clue.
Well for me, I usually browser TwitchTV often and if I see a game that is not on the forums or on the wiki then its clearly private or unreleased.

As for the OP, it's starting to get really cluttered with games in the Add and Remove sections. I feel like we need to convert to a sort a karma system. Like people can give a +1 or a -1 to whatever game they want (and it would help for the account to have a minimum post requirement of 5 or something just to avoid mule votes).

We could even set up a Google Doc spreadsheet for this, or something.
Honestly, I know where your coming from but haven't consider it, I'll see what I can do.

Since I just updated the list I would like to talk about some rules I'm discussing and that will be put clearly in the OP. I don't like messing with a good formula but it seems theres been a bit too much abuse of the current system so here I go:

Firstly, I do not think that private or unreleased games should be voted on since only a handful of people are able to vote on them, which creates some bias. Just because you saw the game get played doesn't mean it is a amazing game. When a game is fully released with a publicly available download link then I will allow voting on it. It just feels like you can say "+ 1 Half-Life 3" but can't really back that up because you've never played the game, only heard of it or seen it. This rule is going in full effect today.

Secondly, I don't know if Needle Games should be allowed to be chosen, you can discuss this rule as it is before I consider adding it but if everyone can come to some type of consensus I won't have to even consider it. Now we all know some Needle Games have charm or are really good, but that can't be said about all of them, and I've seen some needle games on this thread get +1 that I don't really agree with but I'm just the observer, and don't really have any say. I hope everyone can discuss this rule without it creating any flame wars.

Hopefully we can discuss this second rule peacefully and without any problems.

I don't have G+ yet but you guys make it sound like it's the worst thing ever
Care to clarify?
It's not the worst thing ever if your used to social networking. What is wrong with it is how they integrated it in all of their products and forced it on us. People who never wanted to have a youtube comment with their name labeled on it is out of luck. They removed the old YouTube commenting system in placement of the new one which is worst in every way possible. One way I can think of is being allowed to use #hashtags and at launch you were able to literally copy and paste whole novels because there was no character limit. There is probably alot more wrong with G+ but I really can't think of anything else at this time in the morning.

@cantavanda, I feel you bro. My advice would be, those kinds of people are cool for hanging out with. Like you will learn to appreciate people like that even if, in a maturity and emotional sense, you are their superior. Some of my best friends can't hold a good convo about stuff that isn't stupid and still think having sex = fulfillment but they are fun to speak to and hang around. The worst thing to be is an elitist and to only be friends with people who you can have deep convos with because there all sorts of facets to life that you need to enjoy and, yes, open up to people and talking about important things and discussing existential matters is fulfilling but so is playing sports and hanging around and spending afternoons doing nothing at all but having fun etc etc. Different types of people have their pros and cons. Talk to people older than you, that's what I did. Find people a grade or two above at school to talk to but don't forget the friends you have now etc.
Well yes, hang out with older people, I have some adult friends, and I can talk good with them. It's much more comfortable with them then with teenagers, because all they talk about is bad things about other people.
lol, this is so true. Unless you are a swag fag in this generation of culture the only way you are getting a girlfriend is by being immature. Are all the girls at the school going to be like that? no. I have some friends that are pretty cool but I keep them at a friendship status because I really have no intention of loving them either way. If you are looking for a true relationship at this age, I will tell you now, you won't find it. Relationships at this time are only about going at it like bunnies. At this point the only thing you can do is broaden you range and look at other places that aren't school for a relationship.
Well yes. But I don't want to internet date. I rather find her in real life.
Didn't mean internet dating, I meant if school is the only place your looking to find your dream girl then you might want to look other places, dance clubs, shopping, ect...

You're so sage derf. Well, the people from my age, in my school at least, you can't have a serious talk with any of them. They're only interested in, you guessed it, sex and being "cool". How immature can you be. I want to have deep talks, but you just can't do it with them. And if you're not in the swag culture, they don't even want to talk with you.
Well, I should just wait until the people from my age are all older (20+) (so also more mature), and then I'll go searching.
