General Discussion! / Pathery
« on: April 16, 2012, 03:50:26 pm »
A friend of mine on Altitude has his own online puzzle website called Pathery.  The point of the game is to, using a set number of walls (and any of the given terrain), design the longest maze possible.  There are small, simple levels, and there are some completely obnoxious levels featuring teleporters to build your maze around.  New puzzles are given daily, and you can compare your old maze designs against others once a new maze is up.  There's a tutorial that briefly explains everything you'll see on the site.

I'm not very good at the game (namely because I've zero forethought/planning abilities), but I do enjoy the game, and I'd like to share it with everyone. :D  If you want the site to keep score/progress of what you've done, you'll need to login via a Google G-Mail account (or at least, that's how it wanted me to login).

Have fun!

: pre-game • show
Hello everyone; it's that time again! ^_^

Have you ever wanted to play a game where you get to be the last man standing?
Have you ever wanted the mafia to be able to kill more than one person during the night be default?
Have you ever wanted everyone to have more than one win condition?
Have you ever wanted to play with NPCs?
Have you ever wanted to play a game where you could just do nothing but screw around with people all day long?
Have you ever wanted to do more than just sit and spin?

Then this game is for you! :D

I welcome you, to join me, in a world where two is greater than three, apples are to oranges, and Hell is frozen over.  Your dreams are brought to life, and if you build it, they will die!

Who is brave enough to Bark at the Moon?  What is the square root of Mark plus Ark?  Where have all the good people gone?  When do the cows come home?  Why am I asking so many questions?  ARE WE THERE YET!?!?

See no evil.  Hear no evil.  Speak no evil, my friends.

(Unfortunately, this isn't the Pandora's Box game I wanted to make; I had too many issues going on with that one at the moment.  I did, however, work out a few other ones I had been saving up; Neo knows what I'm taking about. :P  I've chosen this one first because this is gonna be the closest one finished.)

Game starts Friday evening or Saturday Morning, depending on when I finish (or when I wake up Saturday; I do, however, have a long weekend at the start of August :D)

[hr]

As stated in the rules, this is a must-lynch game.  However, lynching someone DOES NOT kill them.  So, what does lynching do?  It simply removes them from the game temporarily.  Lynched players have the chance to return to the game, but we will discuss how that works when the time comes.

Now I did mention earlier that there would be NPCs involved.  So, as the final course of action for my explanation, I will discuss NPCs.

NPCs are introduced at random, one at a time, during each DAY phase.  NPCs, as the name suggests, act on their own, and can be killed by the Mafia; just like any player.  In some cases, they can be lynched; and lynching an NPC has the same effect as the Mafia (or another player) killing them.  Some NPCs have the same abilities as other players, some NPCs do one thing and disappear, and some NPCs have unique abilities which will be explained when they show up.  Note that NPCs won't always do something when they're given the chance too.

: Dem rules • show
-No quoting or screenshots of ANY PMs; everyone has only your word to go on.
-The proper voting procedure looks like this:  VOTE:  <player>
-Because this is a Survivor game, this is a MUST lynch game.  Lynching someone requires a majority of the votes on one person.
-Day and night phases are twenty-four hours long; if you have not completed your day/night actions in that time frame, you will not do anything that day/night phase.
-If the Day Phase ends, and there is not a majority vote on a player, whoever has the most votes will be lynched.  In the event there in a tie in the votes; whoever had the most votes on them FIRST will be lynched.
-If you are in the middle of your night actions, and the twenty-four hour time limit expires, you will automatically retire and do nothing else that night; all actions made within the time limit are still performed.
-You are allowed to trade items with other players.  While you can lie about what items you have, you CANNOT lie about what items you are willing to trade.  Trades can only take place during the DAY.
-All PM interactions between players (the mafia meetings, for example) MUST include me.  If I find out there's been PMing behind my back, you WILL be modkilled.

: The Night Phase • show
During the night, you are allowed to do one of two things:

A)  If you have a night ability, you can perform it now.
B)  You may search the house and surrounding area just outside the house for any items that may have appeared.

Note that the Mafia kill still occurs, regardless of what the individual members of the mafia themselves choose to do.  However, this is NOT your standard Mafia-styled killing that's going on.

The Mafia is allowed to choose how many members it sends to target a specific person.  If they send equal too or more than the amount of mafia members necessary to kill their target, that person dies.  If they do not send enough people to kill their target... well, they've just wasted a night. :P

: Item Variety • show
When looking around the house for items, a few different... classes or distinctions of items can be found.  A list of them, for you use, are:

1) One-Use:  These items can do just about anything, but once you use it, it's gone.  Save these for when you really need them.

2) Food:  These items perform can perform a multitude of things, or possibly nothing at all.  Most foods are one-use, but earn a separate distinction because of the sheer amount of them in the game.

WARNING!!!!!

While eating food is generally good for your health, some foods are... spoiled, if you will, and if you're not paying attention, you may end up with a negative effect, rather than a positive one.

3) Decoration:  These items don't do anything.  But, then again, if they don't do anything, why would they be here?

4) Rare:  These items are hard to come by, and should be picked up immediately.  Mots rare items are just upgraded one-use items, but some rare items possess an... interesting effect, shall we say.

5) Combination:  These items don't do anything on their own.  However, when used with another item, they can make said item even stronger... or change it completely... or actually make the item do something.  Most combination items are also rares.

6)  Unique:  There are only one of these items in the game, and are even harder to find than rares.  These items can do multiple things at once, and may even change a person entirely.

1) The SpiderCam!  SpiderCam!  SpiderCam!  Does whatever a Spider can....

This camera on eight legs, with a built-in microphone and voice synthesizer, zooms around the house at an alarming speed, video-taping anything it sees.  However, this NPC is... aged, shall we say.

The SpiderCam watches a HOUSE LOCATION each day AND night.  What it sees is recorded onto it's Video Tape.  However, there is a small chance that the SpiderCam will short-circuit, blurting out what it has witnessed that day/night.

The Video Tape is an item the SpiderCam carries around that a player may take... if it can catch the damn thing.

Crap! / I accidentally my video driver?
« on: February 20, 2011, 06:03:40 pm »
So I've been playing Shin Megami Tensei: Imagine for a little while now, and I'm enjoying it very much (not big surprise).  I do have a very large gripe with it, however; and it has nothing to do with the game itself.

You see, my laptop has a tendency to lag (freeze?) for a second or two on occasion while I am playing the game.  Now, if there aren't a whole lot of people in the area I am in, this isn't such a problem.  But, whenever there is a lot of people (ITT: static and mobile sprites), it is a problem because, eventually, my computer will go black, and then emerge again with my SMT: Imagine window whited out, causing me to be unable to play it anymore (it happens again even if I restart the game over; my only method of closing the application is to go into Task Manager).  Plus, I'll have a little message on the bottom right telling me my driver crashed and had to restore/restart itself.

Any idea why on earth this is happening?

Crap! / So if you're wondering...
« on: January 30, 2011, 03:46:32 pm »
Just what the hell I've been up too, then this thread is for you. If not, then politely click the arrow that is pointing to the left on the upper-right of your screen/browser.  And if you're just going to TL;DR, well consider yourself lucky; because, while I was in the middle of typing a long-ass post, my laptop decides to be a dick and cause me to accidentally backspace my IWBTF tab so far back to the point where I can't reclaim everything I had typed for over 45 minutes.  FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU-

So here's what happened;

Snow.  Snow. MORE FUCKING SNOW!  I've been shoveling snow for the first week straight of my absence here; and not just on my own property either; I had this idea where a group of people I know would help each other clear each other's sidewalks.  But since most of them have jobs where they're gone in the morning and afternoon, and the only other person who was available broke their wrist, I got stuck with shoveling snow from each complex area by myself; plus the lone snowblower we had was broken.  This turned me into a pissy little brat for a little while. <_<

Then there was this one person who slipped on a sidewalk near my house that I just happened to see.  But despite helping them get up, this person gets mad at me for not doing a good job of shoveling snow and threatened to send me to court.  Not only that, but one of the guys who agreed to help with the snow shoveling of each of our complexes calls me from his work saying that this person is serious about sending me to court.  This turned me into a seething recluse. >_>  Seriously, I couldn't write this up even if I tried.

Then it's discovered that the person in question has arthritis of the hip, and was going to try to use it as a crutch to gain some free money.  However, after the lot of us gang-raped said person outside of a grocery store, I had learned that the only person who thought that any potential court date was going to happen was me.  This turned me into a very depressed pile of secrets. v_v  This whole incident was completely ridiculous, and I'd like to hurry up and forget it as soon as I can.

Team Fortress 2 week then started after that, where I had spent several hours each day playing said game for seven days.  This made me happy. ^_^  It was about time I got to enjoy the game for once; Fail Spy is king in terms of fun and humor. XD

I am currently running a forum-based Tower Defense game on Furry's Lair right now.  If the beta goes well, I'll easily be able to run it on here.

Once Winter stopped being a douche, it got nice outside (hell, plus temperatures are epic!)  So I was outside a lot, but instead of shoveling snow, I got to go exercise in a manner I actually enjoy; walking everywhere I possibly can!  Unfortunately, it got cold again, so I'm trapped in the house once more.

I've been having to donate time to looking at different colleges/universities, because, obviously, I plan on going back to school.  I'm tired of not being able to find an Accounting job (it's been almost, if not over, two years), so I ended up saying "Screw you, hippie!" to it and am now deciding what I want to do.  I'm thinking of becoming a Pharmacist or a Psychologist so far; something that has more to do with people than with business would suit me just fine.  My dad laughed when I told me I wanted to be a Baker (although that's purely environmental, as I LOVE walking by bakeries just because of the smell).

I've been donating time to other games that I had been ignoring, like Elements.  Heck, I even played Realm of The Mad God and got to see Oryx die.

I actually did something on RPG Maker while I was away too; although all it was is the designing of a few test rooms for me to try stuff out.

The last two days have been me scrapping ice off of our sidewalks at my dad's request.  And doing that is A LOT WORSE than having to simply shovel snow.  Needless to say, I'm sore as all bloody hell right now as a result.

And that should cover it.  Thank you for taking the time to read this and have a nice day! ^_^

Crap! / I can't recharge my Ipod?
« on: December 23, 2010, 02:32:21 pm »
So apparently either my laptop or my MP3 player is being a dick.  Ever since a couple of days ago, my laptop has not been able to identify (discover?) my Ipod whenever I plug it in.  My mouse works fine despite this.

Any idea as to what I can do to fix this?
