For the most part, I agree.
With a few of my friends being the music hipsters they are (my roommate being a drummer and having me attempt to find his obscure MP3s he wants), I get introduced to so many different kinds of music that I've picked up a couple of new favorite artists from their tastes alone; one of those bands being the one I can't shut up about, We Were Promised Jetpacks.
It's also really disappointing to see bands rise up from independent labels to mainstream only for them to fall harder, faster, and stronger than it took for them to rise. Before Tron:Legacy, Daft Punk was putting out some amazing albums. Sure, I wasn't a fan of letting various rap artists sample their tracks for a few years, but Alive 2007 is still something I listen to at least monthly. After they did that movie score (to which I still hate Disney for distributing the second disc's exclusive tracks to at least 7 different services so no one in their right mind could legally get every MP3 for it), they just seemed to disappear. Was it their fault that it wasn't really a DP album and more of a movie score, or was it a sign that anything they'd produce could still sell millions without even trying?
