Sounds like a cookies issue. Once your cookies stick for .moe I imaigne it'll stop being an issue. Hopefully! :D

Gaiden might get continued one day, but I got other projects that are a lot more important to me. I have lots of idea for Gaiden content, but I absolutely do not work on multiple games at the same time.

To put it another way, when I'm working on a part 2 for Gaiden I'll make everyone know it's my main project.

So I switched to my own domain at this point ( .moe? Awesome) so there might be some weirdness in the coming days. I'm going to try and configure apache to take care of as many of them as possible, but report any major issues here.

Also note, the owner of the pyoko domain has told me that if I've moved on, he's going to let it expire. I'm not sure how much time is left on it, but be sure to update your bookmarks and all that.

I just got the anti spam questions working again so we'll probably be fine. This isn't the first upgrade, but it's ... been awhile. Anyways to the mods tracking down spammers, if there continues to be an abnormal amount of spam, let me know. Maybe I'll try that copyright change or something.

When a leak springs on a pipe, you fix the pipe. You don't fortify the whole house against waterdamage.

This is a leak and it might take a bit for it to get locked down (though it might be locked down already) and suddenly assigning mods for that would be excessive. I'm barely around so I can't comment on whether the forums need more or less moderation, but I can say pretty safely that making mode mods because of this situation would be silly.

I purged every registration over the last 2 days. That and the new captcha should take care of it. If it doesn't, let me know.

People have been really positive about my appearance, which surprises me because I felt like what MetaKK said. Like "damn some soft ball questions aaaaa"

General! / Re: IWBTG on consoles?
« on: August 09, 2013, 09:35:20 pm »
There are basically no advantages for me, as a developer, for working on consoles. More limitations, more headaches, blahblahblabhalh. Most PCs beat the pants off the current generation of consoles. The only reason current console games can look as good as they do is because of absurd optimization that I would not have access too. Also most of that power is primed for displaying 3d.

So the only advantage to IWBTG on console would be exposure and the ability for people to play the game on their TVs. considering I lose the exposure advantage due to all the copyright infringement (I'd have to be homebrew stuff), the only advantage is you guys could well... play on consoles.

... Which, outside the fact that I don't have the technical expertise to do so to begin with, is dumb and I don't care.

I've been told by a bunch of people that the IWBTG source is not up to date. So I was going through an old harddrive today and I might have come across the modern files.

http://kayin.pyoko.org/iwbtg/source/

I'm not sure which is which (since I can't open them) but ONE of these should be the most recent version.

Fangames! / Re: Discussion : Paid "I WANNA" fangames.

Phone market is weird since there are so many paid apps now. I as an experiment gave permission to two korean people who asked but told them like "yo I don't know what copyright laws are like over there but if you wanna do this you might wanna do your own thing". I guess they went ahead with it.

Honestly I don't care enough to do anything about it and I doubt they're making very much money. I'm sure there are other games on there I didn't give permission for. So lemme put some perspective on this.

Okay--

I can't stop people from copying my game. I wouldn't even be in my rights to. Nor can I stop people from making money off my games (nor would I want to). The idea of people taking my stuff and soullessly doing it in a way or place that makes them make a lot of money kinda bothers me, but I don't think that has happened or ever will at this point. If someone is going to sell a game on the google play store, I'm not going to bother to do anything about it. People make doujin games for other properties all the time and sell them and in a lot of cases, that's beneficial to those brands. IWBTG is smaller, so it's a bit scarier, but at the end of the day, the only thing that will ultimately detract from my control over the brand are games that do it as good or arguably better than me (Boshy?) and in that case, the mind share they earn is deserved. Even then, they probably STILL also benefit me since they are so few and far between (... Arguably just Boshy).

Also Battle Kid is awesome.

Anyways yeah, I technically don't approve of this kind of stuff (well besides for the fact that I gave permission to someone to see how it turned out, which seems to be 'the game looks awful'), it's really not a big deal.

If some big funny t-shirt chain starts selling an IWBTG shirt or something I will flip my shit, but if someone trying to make an indie game bites off me, well.... whatever. I hope they do well.

With google ads, clicks matter orders of magnitude more than impressions. So generally speaking, someone running adblock isn't a big deal because that person is probably never going to click ads. Also probably why google kinda didn't care about stuff like adblock (though they've finally started freaking out a bit) -- those users are lost causes anyways. I imagine if anything, they're reacting now because stuff like youtube video ads work differently and probably DO have an impression model But whatever!
