It's because of Exor Body. I had This Probolem and it took me a while to figure it out, but yeah, change back to teyh Normal Kid Sprite, then you can get through the door

Oh yeah, I found those safe spots too but didn't bother to mention it. You still have to be careful in the upper part of the room though, so it doesn't make much difference really.
