Put a Save Point or something between forms of The Guy
« on: December 11, 2007, 04:00:49 pm »

Once the first half of this battle is figured out it is easy and not any fun at all, yet it takes tons of time to get through. I understand that this is supposed to be the last boss and hard and what not, but this isn't challenge - it's pure tedium.

I've fought the first form so many times now I am going to go insane. And it doesn't help that the game crashes over half the time when I pick up the gun now.

I'm going to have to deny this request. The first form is actually sort of designed so you can blow through it quickly anyways, so it shouldn't be a problem.

As for the crashing, I wish there was something I could do about that, but MMF2 is a bastard. :(

Edit: I suppose I could consider one for medium mode...

Oh god yes, that would be MUCH better.

I've already beaten his first form a few thousand times, and yet I always seem to crash or die at the very end.

A save point is really taking it too far. That bow is there for a reason! a thousand deaths is a thousand too few.

I thought the bow was there because you were a wuss who didn't want to die a whole lot.

That's a great idea! Give the Guy an attack you have to knock him out of, and if you fail to do so, he calls on an undefined resource or something and crashes MMF2!

Allow me to join the unpopular side and ask that no save point be added to medium, unless it also be added to all of the others.  (Which it won't be.)

Although Medium is obviously meant to be considerably easier than the other difficulty levels, making The Guy (whom I have not reached, but I understand to be clearly the most difficult portion of the game) significantly easier on Medium would ruin any glory to be had in completing Medium.  It's bad enough that you're on the lowest difficulty level, that you have a bow on your head, and that Niku makes fun of you in every other thread; at least give the Medium player the opportunity to say, "I beat The Guy," without anyone having to ask, "On what difficulty level?"

Well, like I said before, The Guy is harder than any challenge on even Very Hard, so if you can beat him even on Medium, you've already beaten the best.

...The problem then is that suddenly there's even less of a drive for new people to try harder difficulties because they'll face the hardest part eventually anyway, and by playing on Normal they can get there quicker.

Imma have to agree with Kefit on this one. I'm tired of constantly dying from the explosion because the outlines of the giant bullets blend in perfectly with The Guy's mouth and I invariably get nicked by a corner. How the hell am I supposed to dodge something I can't see?

This game was Excellent® avoiding this kind of retardation up to this point; why fix something that isn't broken? :V

When the Guy enters his full 2nd form, he releases a wave of gigantic bullets.  Those bullets have (gigantic) black edges, and his mouth is also black.  I can dodge it pretty easily, but I suppose I could see how it might cause problems.

I put my finger on the screen at a safe part and walk to there in order to avoid the giant bullets of doom.  It's the best way I've found of reliably dodging them.

If you put a save in the middle of him on medium, you should pull a Contra and tell the player they don't get to see the ending unless they do it on a manlier difficulty.
