There is a difference between being intentionally malicious and ignorant and in this case Cantavanda is just severely ignorant.

This is just my opinion, and it may be wrong, but words do evolve over time to mean different things. Take the word "gay" for example. It's original definition meant happy. When was the last time you heard someone legitimately use it this way?

I feel like retarded is kinda the same way, in that it's evolved to mean something closer to "stupid". Yes, retarded comes from latin meaning slow. mentally retarded literally means that your brain is slow, which isn't a very medically PC term, which is why it's been phased out from modern use, both medically and socially.

When I hear people describe something as "retarded", I don't really consider them to be describing it as "intellectually disabled", but rather as stupid, or idiotic. I know not everyone may agree. My mom, who tests preschoolers to see if they have special needs, certainly doesn't. But this is just what I've gathered from my experiences and observations.
