So I'm officially a freshman in college. I was wondering if any of you have any advice, or I should just go for the generic advice of "Don't fail." Or you can share stories, that's cool too.

My advice is don't buy the books until it comes to a point where you actually have questions in the book to answer, because the professor will just regurgitate the book and if you listen in class you won't need it. And never buy anything from the school store.

That's just all based on my experience though. Might be totally different for you.

All I can say: keep a calendar.

Yeah that too, good point. I had a calendar program for classes and tests and projects and junk. And as far as registering for classes, be alert and ready to slaughter any unfortunate soul who reveals they're trying to get the same class as you, remember to have necessary evidence planted to frame their roommate be waiting at that website at least 10 minutes early, with all your necessary choice info ready to be copypasta'd onto the form as soon as their clock (on the website) hits your time. Even a minute late and you won't get it....unless its a class no one wants

Again, not sure if your college does it like that, but I pulled an allnighter because my register time was 5am and I didn't trust myself to wake up on time, so logically I just waited all night. And I made it in with only 5 seats left to spare. And the system clock broke so they actually opened up 10 mins earlier.

I use Microsoft Outlook. It's a solid program.

College isn't too hard, but you've always got something that you have to do.

Cal Poly Pomona if anyone was wondering. Unfortunately all my classes this quarter require the book, and my calculus book I was forced to buy for the class from the bookstore. And the one class I have for my major this quarter... waitlisted. Ah well, there's always next quarter if I don't get in.

Interestingly enough, I actually know someone else going there. As for advice? Use a clipboard. Sometimes those mini-desks in the classrooms just don't cut it for note taking (it'll help you stay a little organized too)

Don't be afraid to try to crash classes you want to get into Day 1. Some classes I knew just handed out permission codes during the first week on a regular basis to most who stayed interested.

I guess a binder will have to suffice for note taking, unless I use my cutting board haha
Also it seems that it's general advice to crash classes you're waitlisted for, so I'll be sure to do that on Monday (it's a M/W class).

Oh and you can torrent books. Just putting that out there.
