Paper Mario
« on: August 29, 2008, 11:56:18 pm »

Why do I feel like this series is extremely overrated?

I know the original did not sell as well due to being released
at the end on the N64 era, but it is still great.

The second was very long, just look at how many vids
it took my friend to complete it.

The third one is my fav, very easy to get infinite easy experience
which is a downside, but best story.

Has anyone else played/liked these.

Hell yeah.

The 2nd one's my favorite. :D  The 3rd one's definitely the worst in terms of gameplay because it went towards a more real-time based "combat system" (which, as already stated, made the game very easy... although my reason is slightly different).  Not to mention it was an outright bore in general.

I did like the variety of after-game content in the third.
Challenging, with a huge bit of patience.

I don't remember ever playing it after I beat it.... (In terms of the save file, not the game itself)

I own all three and I really enjoy playing them. Paper Mario had great gameplay, story and soundtrack and Thousand Year Door inproved on it, making it my favorite in the series. I liked Super Paper Mario, but it was too easy except for the last chapter and The Flopside Pit of 100 Trials, although I like the platforming gameplay mixed with RPG elements and the humor (Who could resist laughing at Fracktail getting an error and Francis the super nerd?).

Going through flipside's pit, going through flopside's pit TWICE.
Not to mention King Sammer's tourney, getting cards, recipe disks, etc.
Very challenging and a good sense of accomplishment.

Got my char. to level 75

Unfortunately I'd have to disagree on that one; the Pit's were okay, the cards and King Sammer's tourney was overdoing it.  Although at least I can make an exception for King Sammer.

All the characters in SPM were hilarious. :D

Sammer's Kingdom is not that hard if you use Boomer alot. For the small knights, I found doing a quick jump would beat them.

I thought it was done just right, if you read it, there was
a lot of nintendo history that was fun to learn.

Again, not what I'm talking about. >_<

It should've either been just the Pit of 100 trials OR King Sammer's Tournament in the game, not both.

I thought it was good.  The flipside pit was a warm up to the Sammer guy.
The Sammer Guy warmed you up to flopside the first time, and flopside
prepared you for it again. That being said I know where you are coming from.

You'd think we did it enough times after going through just two of them.  NEVERMIND what they put in.

Of course you could just ignore it, but where's the fun in that?
