Yeah, over 2 million views and 'obscure' Pathetic. In order for a song to be obscure it shouldn't even be in English, or any other widely accepted languages such as Spanish, French, German, or any of the Scandinavian countries,(I put them in the same category because all of them are similiar, except for the Finland, obviously) let alone have 2 million views on youtube. I think it's safe to say that a million views for a music video is a lot. The amount of music produced per day is insane, and only about %5 gets recognized, while the other %95 falls under the category of 'obscure music.' I'm going to show a few examples of extremely obscure songs in order to understand what makes a song obscure. Keep in mind that in order for a song to be obscure it doesn't have to sound like somebody scratching his/her nails into a chalkboard. Relatively normal songs that can be classified as simple and well known genres such as folk music or rap music can also be extremely obscure.
Here's a song that I am quite fond of but unfortunately it's from a country that nobody would care about if Borat never existed. Yes, I'm talking about Kazakhstan. This middle eastern landlocked country has made some of the best forms of art I've seen in many years. Here's a song from Bulat Syzdykov(He recently died in May 2016, rest in peace) It's unfortunately written in Cyrillic alphabet so I have no idea what it means but nonetheless it's called "Песня о Караганде" Unfortunately, nobody bothered to upload his songs on youtube. Don't worry, it's still on the internet.
