Annoucing the Official Development of my Next Game

Brave Earth:Tower in  the Sky

Now in active development. A Full fledged Metroidvania in a detailed fantasy setting with complex fighting game style combat mechanics (including combos that involve more than mashing A and various directions). The game will feature involving, dialog based plot with fully voiced characters(Unless the voice acting turns out so bad that I dump it). Hopefully this will be the first of many games in this setting.

Expected Development Time: 1-2 Years. Get ready for a long wait! Short term side projects during this time are not out of the question.

Also an apology to those who submitted voice acting entries.  Things are still going. They may take awhile but we'll get there. Just be patient, I haven't forgotten about you.

Anyways, more information to come in the following months, either as posts or youtube videos!

I think you can get a huge, "OMFG FUCK YEAH!" from the gaming community. I'm pretty sure that you, Kayin, are one of the most respected indie developers because of the amazing design you throw in our faced. This will, I'm sure, be of the same caliber.

I'm sure we'd all wait 50 to 90 years just to play another one of your games. ... Don't do that to us, because we will raid your house and burn you, I'm just saying that we are crazy enough to wait that long.

Er, I mean, "OMFG FUCK YEAH!"  ;D

I'd have to say metroidvania is my preferred game genre, as it has some of my favorite elements of RPGs, exploration and leveling up/getting upgrades, without the negatives; i.e. menu-driven combat or bosses in which the strategy is "level up more". Kayin mentioned an involving plot, which I would say is metroidvania's biggest flaw, so I'm pretty excited.

What are you using to make the game, Kayin?

I like the idea of fighting game style combos in a Metroidvania.  SOTN had it to a (small) extent, but I always did want to have a Metroidvania style game where you had a lot of control possibilities, so you could use twitch skill to fly through enemies and areas all stylish-like.  Hopefully your fighting game style controls will amount to more than SOTN's "do this and get a fireball" type moves that totally destroyed your momentum and flow.

The controls you use to do special attacks will be in the vain of 2d fighters.  QCFs, dragon punches and charge moves. Not some complex crazy directional input that involves standing in place for 2 minutes.
