It is my first time going through I Wanna Be the Guy, I am wondering if I should go through on medium or hard.

Medium just has more save points.  It's really just a preference.

Except I played Medium more than 20 times before attempting anything else, and then hard and very hard just seemed like a piece of cake...

There was a thread somewhere about this. You should try Medium unless you want to be even more frustrated.

'normal' is hard
you get a bow for medium

Just the one thing I think should be made clear is no matter what, don't be tempted to try impossible untill you are good enough to do very hard... with no deaths...

Beating VH with no deaths is basically the same thing as impossible. And just because you probably won't succeed doesn't mean you shouldn't try. Did you say "I shouldn't try this stretch on hard until I can beat it on medium without dying"? Of course not, you'd just do it on hard until you got it.

I just ment to do very hard so that he could have some saves, also I said dont try it because it can make someone very frustrated. more so then the game already can. I understand the difference in hardness between the modes is only the save points. I just ment to point out you need to be realy good at the game/know it real well.
