Really Hard Games
« on: October 29, 2007, 04:28:58 pm »

I figure that as this is this forum, it cannot be complete without sharing as much human suffering as possible.
Therefore, please post/list/talk about games that will make 6 year olds cry (and other ages as well).

I'll start out with this one- http://dagobah.biz/flash/dontshootthepuppy.swf
Don't shoot the puppy.
It is hatred. Beatable, definitely, but still hatred.

I thought Viewtiful Joe was a fantastic game with a good, strong difficutly. Then theres just the wealth of insane side scrolling shoot'em ups (Mushihime, R-Type)... But then theres the king of hard, nethack. That game is whack.

For a real challange though I play fighting games.

There's always the Touhou series, the most difficult game series about a bunch of girls flying around and shooting magic energy beams at each other I know of. >.>

Funny thing is, Touhou made a fighting game called Immaterial and Missing Power (IaMP), which is, for obvious reasons, the most projectile dependent fighting game ever.

I played it. :3 It's fun.
Actually, that video has Patchouli in it, who in PARTICULAR is more projectile based than others. The girl with the sword's more melee based, too...
As you can see, it's all very chaotic and fun. :3

Has anyone tried Guilty Gear on max difficulty as Bridget while constantly draining your own health by activating the ability to one-hit-kill?

...because I have. Failed at it, I mean.

Are you sure there isn't just some weird sky leak above your head?

On an unrelated note, now that I see catldr's siggy a little scrollbar in the top of the screen with various death methods and timestamps would be interesting. >.>

Anyway, back on topic. Kayin should post that 2ch game here.

It's hard to mention games that are just hard, and not designed poorly. It's hard at times to distinguish the two. Super Ghouls and Ghosts is very hard, but very well designed. Tower of Druaga is.....I don't know. Japanese people love it, which might tell you something.

Kayin, you're playing the Touhou games now aren't you? Are you getting any terrifying inspiration from them, or are you just taking it as some sort of lesson in empathy? Like when guys have to where those big costumes to know what it's like being pregnant, except with bullets.
