Greetings from France! I was introduced to the game about a week ago and I decided to give it a shot with the demo. After many hours of excruciating pain and loads of fun, I finally completed it (both paths) and decided to move onto the real thing.
So I had been stuck at Mecha Birdo for a few days. It was all the more frustrating as I'd always die either stupidly or totally unfairly (curse you laser eyes). Tonight I decided that the damn bird would be biting the dust at long fucking last, or I'm a giant wuss (well I'm French anyway, but that's beside the point!).
Lo and behold, after half an hour's worth of failed missed unlucky tries, the unpleasant pile of junk finally goes down in flames as his warheads become stationary. Victory? BUT WHAT IS THIS. Four shyguys have survived and are seeking revenge! They head at me! I shoot! I kill one, two, three! But not four! The last one dodges my fire! And gets under me! And totally shoves me around and oh shit I'm falling and NOOO FUCK NOOOOOO. My head is asplode, game over. Press R to retry!
I do think I dropped an enormous f-bomb at that point. The neighbours could testify.
But what is this? My game over screen is no longer up in the sky, but inside some sort of metallic structure. I see a save point, a red orb on the far right... boy, is that what I missed by dying at the last moment? Wait, is that the kid? Am I alive? Oh boy I'm alive and moving on a fucking game over screen.
Backup save. Save. Die. Hahaha, it works, I'm alive! It still says game over but I'm alive. Hop onto the next sc- oops, fall down, die again. Hop onto the next screen, save... still game over, but so long I can play? And my save isn't fucked?
I press F2 and proceed to reload the save. Not only does it work, but the game over screen also disappeared! Fantasmatic. But is it fair? I mean, I *did* die, right?
Well.
For every unpleasant and gruesome death I've died.
For every sadistic trap you've set up.
For all the scandalously difficult screens I've crossed.
For all the glitches that have affected me negatively.
For the music of the zombie area, forever stuck in my head.
For all the frustration and anger that has built up inside me.
Yes. It's only fair.
This is my own personal revenge on you, Kayin. Thanks for making such a fantabulous game, I already can't wait to find out what kind of insanity lies ahead. <3
