G&G spike coridor on very hard

Damn, he stripped a lot of save points from the section of the upper path after Tyson.

On medium or hard there's a save point right before this section, so beating it is just a matter of repeated trying that jump until you get lucky. However on very hard you can't afford to try that section that many times. You'd go insane since you need to do so much traveling to get to that section.

Is there any way of beating that room consistently enough that someone could do so three times in a row after some practice?

Ahh, I see it. The correct timing is somewhere a bit after the spike sinks into the ground.

It's so hard to hit though. If anyone who's beaten this thing on very hard could give me some advice I'd love it :kid:

EDIT: what seems to be working better for me is jumping right when the final pair of spikes finishes stabbing into the ground.

Also hitting shift lightly, and not letting go of right arrow.

Never mind, I think a heavy shift might be better.

FINAL EDIT:
WOO! I made the last jump of the corridor three times in a row. That was way way easier than I expected it to be.
1. Stand as close to the final up pointing spike as you can. As in so close it looks like you're on top of it.
2. When the final down pointing spike stabs into the ground press shift and right arrow simultaneously.
3. Watch out for the falling gravestone :)

My method is when you're in the third to last safe place, you just wait till you can jump to the second to last, hold your breath, hold right, and jump past both spikes, causing you to hit shift twice. I think this works because the spikes don't speed up by the time you get there. After that, have fun with the next save point. You have to go from the next save to beat mecha birdo, then make the second hardest jump in the game.

I beat the :spikes: corridor :D

I'm so close to beating this game. I only have three segments until the endgame:
*G&G + mecha birdo
*Center + ryu (already beat this part once, was between the clown copter and the warp to start)
*Castlevania + Dracula

EDIT: I don't see what makes the under the missile jump the "second hardest jump in the game."

It seems like an average tricky jump to me (equivalent with the fall into the metroid section, the part of center that comes immediately afterwards, etc)

in the escape part of metroid, the game lags horrible for me and I end up getting super pissed off because sometimes the game doesn't register my jumps and then I have to start all over again ;_;

Well I practiced it a bunch on medium, it was never at the point where I'd fail for than five times in a row, and was able to land it the second time I beat mecha birdo on very hard.

So I guess different people find different jumps hard.

The spiked corridor is easy.  I made it on Very Hard easily.  Just jump over the final spike just as it's about to shoot up, and DON'T STOP!!!  I've beaten the game on Very Hard, and I'm now posting some vids to youtube. :fruit:

I went down to bowser, wart and wily.

I cannot be bothered at the moment to waste time getting pwned by link and wasted by zombies AND WHEN THERE IS A SMEGGING SPIKE CORRIDOR!

I will stick to dumb bugz, lazars and bowser if you do not mind.
