There's no reason with a troll, and the ignore button is avoiding him. Your point is now moot.
I've reasoned with people considered to be trolls before, and the ignore button can be used in drastic situations. As I said however, no offense to Yule (<3), clicking a topic that has the name of the person you don't like in it is hardly trying to avoid them.
There is no reason with a
troll. If you can reason with them, they aren't a troll, just an attention seeker.
We ignore them initially to show that they are doing something completely moronic. Some give constructive criticism, but others are just tired with all of those that don't listen. Take da kid and sodra as examples. Kwiftee, and others, have asked multiple times, but (t)he(y) refuse(s) to change. After that, people get sick of it and instead of adding stress they just ignore.
I see Kwiftee's point, but if they refuse to change then they are just being immature and should be treated as such. If they do something against the rules, they should be punished. There has been real slack in this department and it needs to change.
This is the biggest problem with the ignore button. Why would they improve? No one else cares.
They can see that there are a lot of members on this forum, quite a few demand that the ignore button is a damnable thing. They see that only some of the population ignores, not all. They have a huge chance to change with just that. If they don't change then they are just telling people that they want more people to ignore them. Even so, a lot of the people that use the ignore button hit that little 'show' button because of the 'Spoiler Syndrome'.
