My friend, there is no trust in this game, only lies and deceit. Not even everything I say is true. Keep that in mind, the cloak of illusion is clouding your eyes my friend.

Just caught back up here, and I'm throwing my opinion into the ring on this GM'ing issue. I'm going to bold and italicize to emphasize the point. I've DM'd enough D&D elsewhere that this is irking me, and I'm going to give you some advice.

ALL PLAYERS MUST BE ABLE TO TRUST THE GM. THE GM DOES NOT "THROW THE TOWN FOR A LOOP" MID-GAME.

The GM is in any game to be an impartial moderator of the rules, who enacts the various actions of the game's players, and who sorts out issues. You NEVER lie about rules. You NEVER misrepresent information. If you want to mess with the town, you give the mafia a role or some such that does this beforehand, and let that mafia member do it.

The Don's Kid was a neat idea. Ybbald found a way to exploit it, and I understand changing the rule here so the town didn't automatically win or simply force this game to go on infinitely, with nobody dying and nobody being lynched. You made a call to fix it, and I think you made a decent one. (If I was GMing, I simply would have removed the role, but your way works too.) That was a good GM action.

What you have done wrong here is ending the town's day early, or griping that "this is moving too slow". You're the GM: a force of nature, not a player. You should NOT railroad the players, you should NOT force them into action, and you should NOT be every second post in this thread! If we're onto a bad line of reasoning, let it happen and let us face the consequences. You've been far too active in this game: let it play out, let people fuck up and eat the consequences. Your job is simply to make the game work, not to make it work any particular way.
