your game causes my computer to have many  :spikes: lags so I tested this out by not opening the game and it didn't lag me. I tried this multiple times and it seems to be your game. I don't know what the problem is but the lag pretty much force me to close my computer because of how slow it gets. cheers :fruit:

dunno if thats only happening to me but since the last version the game gets an error after picking up ANY item. (bossitems, secrets) so you cant really play the game at all :-\

This game looks fine, It does feel good going for something easy once in a while. However, It's a bit too easy for my taste, but that's the point of the game so I won't give any complaints here. But the longer I play this game the more Memory it takes. Eventually I have to restart my computer. You need to fix this...  :P

Now I'm no expert on this but assuming you're using GameMaker, make sure all your sprites and objects that have no animation set to " image_speed=0; "
I'm pretty sure they keep recycling the same image over and over again if you don't, just saying that cuz I had the same problem a long time ago on a old project.

Now that I think about it twice, I doubt this could be the problem here.

I'll have to check to be sure when I get home, but when you run debug mode while testing a game you can watch the local variables of each instance, one of them is "image_index". If a instance doesn't have "image_speed = 0;", it keeps looping through the same one image. Depending on the speed, sometimes you'll see it go through (example) image_index 0.111111, 0.222222, 0.333333 and so on, until it gets to "image_index 1", then it loops back to "image_index 0".

If the computer constantly have to loop every single instance in a room (including invisible blocks, if you have given them a non-visible sprite), I think this could potentially cause slow downs. But I'm not 100% sure about all of this, it's been a while since I fiddled with debug mode and  in any case, this would only affect very old computers.

IMPORTANT MESSAGE:
For all versions past - I dunno what version actually, but nvm - You should make a folder named "Items" or you can't get secrets and boss orbs. I think that is the problem. I will contain the folder in 10.4.... IF I DON'T FORGET.

i still can't play the game because of the lag, well idk if you did some suggestions that people suggested in this thread like changing some sprite's speed value to 0 and make sure some tiles that you use shouldn't be solid to reduce the lag. After that I will play the game so it is not lagging. I don't know if this happens to others but this can help.

2nd i have to say the guys above are right. if you compare the cpu usage of your game and others it seems way over the top. never had any game that takes so much cpu (its like 5-6x the usage i normally have with other fangames)

I remember IWBLB having much the same issue. Maybe look into Cleanmem.dll?

1. replace useless objects with "Draw Sprite or Draw Text" Codes. Maybe it refer to optimization.
2. Do not use "stretch sprites", use "image_xscale and image_yscale" codes.
3. Use ssound, fmod, sound_add to reduce memory using.
4. If you have big backgrounds or sprites, Use sprite_add or sprite_replace to separate them.
5. Make room small. 800X608 , 1600X608 , 800X1208 is okay, but do not make that bigger.
6. Do not use a lot of particles. Particles using memory a lot.

  Pros:
-You changed the music in meat boy world,nice
-You Made an intro
 Sorry,but thats all that i noticed was new,besides rooms,but ill get to that
  Cons:
-At the Contra area,the explosions from the things falling down stay where they are
-At Ninja Gaiden area,when you kill the clown,the explosion stays,making it impossible to get past,so i can not say anything about the next rooms
 If you can fix the bugs i listed,then maybe i can say more about the new areas or things you changed
 
 Also,the game takes forever to load up,and it lags terribly until i beat the first boss,dont know if thats my problem,or a problem with the game

Yeah the explosions stay there for me as well. In the Boshy battle Mega Man's explosions stay there and bombermans stay there too. The clowns explosion CAN be jumped over. It's just really really hard.
i figured it was possible,i just didnt want to waste the time to do it,at first i thought it was intentional at the contra area,but it seemed too random

Well I must say that this is a great game. Some how it's able to be both easy and fun at the same time. The sprites are really nice, and there are tons of references. Plus the bosses are really good.
